Taxes....Taxes......Taxes.

In my classmates blog post Plain Truth makes an argument in regards to our state and government tax system and how it is corrupted on so many levels. Yet, I don’t agree about taxing illegal people because they should not be here in the first place. Yes, they are usually hard workers and they come to achieve that “American Dream”, but they need to go home. They say that illegal people do the jobs that Americans don’t want to do. How do they know that for sure when they are just hiring them for cheap labor? We are in tough times people, and with a little increase in pay with those jobs, maybe you’ll see more Americans doing those jobs. I don’t agree with the welfare program at all. Too Easy To Get Welfare… I think it is ridiculous because it actually encourages people to not try to better themselves or their situation. It also brings a lot of children into the world that are not being raised in a nurturing environment. The women have children in order to stay into the system.

So Much To Say About Mary!....

Okay, will you just listen...? Will you just try and here me out? Marijuana is a drug that should be legalized. Why? There are multiple reasons and the pros most definitely outweigh the cons; yet, the main reason is money. I mean think of all the taxed marijuana we would have to regenerate the economy. And I mean what a good reason…huh. Why marijuana? Well, besides for its medical use to help with nausea with chemotherapy, reduce the pressure in the eye with glaucoma, and weight loss with AIDS. Mary Jane will relax you and put a smile on your face and you won’t even have to buy her dinner! I see a lot of people go about their day depressed and at least by taking this drug it will loosen people up. Of course there are dangers that go with marijuana such as you shouldn’t take it at work or while you are driving because it has a tendency of making you tired. But, there are a lot of things that lead up to you becoming exhausted.

There are two way if not any other ways to take this drug either by ingesting or smoking. After getting it in your body somehow you are going to be pretty hunger. That is why I think anorexic people should ingest or smoke marijuana and won’t have a weight problem anymore. Just a suggestion… Anyway, after you eat, you will probably laugh (hurting pretty much all your muscles inside of you) yourself to sleep. What is one more drug? The FDA already has America hooked on so many drugs; at least, this one will cheer you up. For example, look at Congress and how uptight they look, the need to smoke a lot of pot to deal with America’s issues. Another side effect is hallucinations but that is really if the drug is laced with something but I have heard stories. This drug is sold illegally a lot in America, why not make it legal and tax it! I am sorry there is one more side effect is forgetfulness. I’m sorry, what was I talking about…..

Comment on a colleague’s work

I totally agree with Tim (in his blog Governmental ponderings) on his position of gay marriage and how it has very little effect on others. This topic should not even be a concern in the political world. Another good reason why some people don’t want gay marriage is that people fear change. Most religions believe that a marriage is a sacred institution between a man and a woman. Trust me when I say, usually people who have religion don’t have that open mindedness of different views. The government should not have any say in who I can and cannot marry. They also fear that if they do allow gay citizens to marry each other that this will result in others turning gay (almost like a domino effect). This is a great example of what happened in the past with segregation. Many whites feared black because they are different than them. If a black person sneezed, coughed, or touched a white person, they assume the worst. Those who disagree with the marriage of gays’, usually don’t approve of their lifestyle. Bigotry. Sadly, those type of people usually have kids and pass on their views to them. The only way to get rid of those perceptions is if they die (of natural causes, of course).....

Poor Polar Bears.....

Global Warming is a very serious topic and should be paid close attention to. NRDC defines Global Warming as “Carbon dioxide and other air pollution that is collecting in the atmosphere like a thickening blanket, trapping the sun's heat and causing the planet to warm up. Coal-burning power plants are the largest U.S. source of carbon dioxide pollution -- they produce 2.5 billion tons every year. Automobiles, the second largest source, create nearly 1.5 billion tons of CO2 annually.” There are many different results from the temperature becoming a few degrees warmer like glacier becoming nonexistent, stronger weather such as storms, drought, chain reaction of the food chain. What can we do to lessen global warming?

That is where the national government comes in! I think that the national government should intervene on this matter because it is a serious matter where they would make laws against the types of cars, power plants, or people who pollute our earth. Give grants to inventors to make have them make life efficient and try to repair our ozone. The people that oppose this idea are auto makers and power plant people. I totally understand the view of the auto makers because they already have products on the market that need to sale. Unfortunately, they are killing the earth with their stubbornness. It not like they won’t get the money they will lose back three fold by going with cars that run clean. We should take the lead and be an example for other countries. Polar bears will have no glacier to sit on while drinking Coca-Cola, and that is a very sad thought.

It is all about the NOW....

I was very apprehensive when I learned of myself having to “blog” for my government class. I had had strong negative feelings regarding the whole typing your feelings and putting them out there where the whole world can agree or disagree with your views. Well, there is always something new popping up on the internet whether it’s on blog sites or myspace. Now there is a site called Twitter. Twitter is a place that is almost like blogging but it is a very short statement about what you are doing right now. I find this concept to be completely and utterly ludicrous. In Ann Althouse’s blog, Althose, she posted an excerpt titled “Tweeted out” in which she says that she would rather blog than twit. I totally agree with her, I mean it just seems like it would be a very tedious thing to do because you are posting constantly. I understand that there is a wanting for individuals to have their voice heard, but give me a break. If there is such a need to post what you are doing at this very second, pick up the phone and say it. You know why must people make things so difficult? I think America has an obsession with wanting to be in contact 24 hours a day. Sadly I see a lot of drivers’ everyday when I am on the road, a cell phone attached to their ears whether it is a meaningless conversation or not. I wonder what we would do with ourselves if we didn’t have that constant communication.

What Is Right!

In the New York Times there was an editorial, And Unequal Justice for Some (author not listed), where an illegal immigrant unconsciously gave his boss fake identification numbers which belong to American citizens. The Supreme Court is faced with a decision on whether to charge an illegal immigrant with aggravated identity theft (which results in imprisonment) or identity theft (which is not as serious and results in a lesser punishment). I think this article is aimed towards lawmakers so they can in return not make the laws so ambiguous. The author is credible I just do not think that his views are aim towards the right group of people.

I am sorry if I do not feel contrite about the illegal immigrant situation. “The Supreme Court should reverse Mr. Flores-Figueroa’s conviction to stop overly aggressive prosecutors from going beyond what the law allows — and to ensure that in identity theft cases, the punishment fits the crime.” I disagree with the author because I feel that that illegal who committed the crime should be charged with the maximum punishment and pose as an example for others who dare to break the law. Not only did he break the law but he is here illegally! His punishment should not be to deport him back to his country and let him get off scot-free. That just gives that person another opportunity to come back over illegally and break the law. Yes, America has been called “The land of opportunity” and I am truly thankful to be in this country. I don’t disapprove of this illegal trying to better his life; however, there is a legal way of handling things.

Stimulate the economy

It’s not easy to trust our government after what has happened during the Bush Administration. But, the past is the past and we can’t feel cantankerous towards our government forever. So, we have to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off to get through the economic crisis that we are going presently dealing with. The answer to our problem is our stimulus bill that is currently $787 billion dollars and is struggling getting passed in Congress. Our current president, Barack Obama, wants to have bipartisan in Congress, yet the majority of the Republicans are against this bill. His preference does make sense where you want to make your kids to be happy but don’t give them everything they want. The Republicans and Democrats have different views…. Yes! Yet, they should see how crucial passing this bill is. I would recommend this article because it informs you about the controversial stimulus bill.
